Dayum

LAkeside glory. Crest slidaz on tha East syyyyyde!

A slight hiccup in activities occurred last Thursday. Altruism got the best of me, and a nasty backwards tumble over a bike left me with a nice 2cm^2 hole (and a much smaller one, maybe .5cm^2) down to the subcutaneous tissue that required stiches. Better that than a squished doggy I suppose.

Before medical attention:

And after a skin sewing session:

Best part is the reason that mass continuity was seemingly violated. A big chunk of skin was not to be found...and guess who was running about? The dog! Moose enjoyed some fine homo sapien flesh that night LOL.
Needless to say, I've been hitting the frenchies, pushups, and situps super hard and am pumping up the stoke for hopping on some awesome rock climbs, riding bikes (not falling over them while walking), and trail runs in the coming days and continuing until the snows begin falling.

Woke up with another sweet

Fall is officially here. Cool breezes, wave clouds, and a spring/summer of training to be put to use now that temperatures are dropping.

Today, Mistah Copeland and I hit Donnaire for a quick workout. We started with a quick lead up Bottomless Topless (very fun climb) to get the rope in position for some flailing.

Time for thizzle dancin! It's fun to cruise toprope laps on really hard stuff; good for building skill and lets your mind know what would be possible with proper strengthening. Listen to Desarie and learn!

Next on the menu was a lap up Manic Depression. Cool slopers up a leaning crack to a thin splitter with a few balancy face moves using sidepulls made for a fun time in the sun. Bela and Tim from ASI showed up for a few evening laps and we shared some laughs and ideas (TBA!). Since we are still learning to count and spell, naturally it was time to hop on Monkey Paws. I remembered from the one time I climbed it years ago that it was pretty hard, but this time the crux section went smoothly and generated a nice pump which spit me off near the top while trying to transition into the final crack. Great fun!

Stepping it up one more click we headed to Panic in Detroit as the sun set below the Sierra crest and the wave clouds started popping. Now this is a fun and hard climb! Cool thin and sequency moves throughout with an ever-growing pump. Had to hang a bit and work through the crux section, but this is a climb worth working on. The gear seems ok (if you are solid at the grade) and the moves are a blast. My favorite was the mono-digit finger lock dyno to the main rest rail about 2/3 of the way up. Fancy footwork and tricky jams get you to the top. Its a good feeling to get on what you know is and will be a challenging climb for the first time ever and make the moves happen. Sometimes routes take many tries to unlock the sequences or build the strength or endurance to complete. The power of believing is incredible! But, the next goal is to do the route in a single push. Then comes the true challenge, the big lead!
